Gargantua Part I
2023, Materials: Floor collage with an accompanying sound installation. The collage is made out of every item listed in the final printed edition of the Argos catalogue. Each item listed for sale in the catalogue has been cut out, laminated, and cut out again, monumentalising the laminated catalogue shoppers could flick through in-store. The sound piece is made out of thousands of excerpts of text from the catalogue and includes various forms of aspirational language and technical information. The artist has worked with musician and artist Rian Treanor to create a bespoke piece of sound software which allows her to make arrangements of the sound clips, varying in legibility and intensity.
